Silvia Fahrner explains how they use the Terberg tractors: "The vehicles have been working here in shifts for years to our complete satisfaction. We make sure that the containers are delivered to the right place at the right time. This makes us an essential part of the supply chain, ensuring that it is uninterrupted and runs smoothly. We've been using Terberg vehicles since we started this business.
Following a test with a Terberg electric tractor, Peter Fahrner commented: "Our conclusion after several weeks of testing is that the biggest advantage is the 100% CO2 neutrality, which also requires the use of verifiably green electricity. The vehicle is very quiet and extremely comfortable for the driver. In terms of performance and usability, it's no worse than a diesel. However, there are still some challenges for electric vehicles in freight transportation that need to be addressed.
Currently, electric vehicles can be a viable option for lower mileage or limited time use, and charging infrastructure, grid capacity, and electricity costs are critical factors.
Technological openness is the only way forward. Given the very limited grid capacity, critical raw materials and uncertainty about the high investments required over the next decade, we do not see electric mobility as the only solution for heavy-duty transport. We also have to be open to e-fuels, HV100, hydrogen, etc. We will see a lot of growth, research and progress in the coming years.
