Grupo Puerto de Cartagena, operates the largest port in South America. In 2023 its Contecar terminal handled 4.5 million TEU, mostly for transshipment. When the company decided on a major fleet expansion they considered several options. After a number of meetings with Terberg and local distributor Global Port Equipment they eventually chose Terberg YT tractors.
Maintenance coordinator Roger Alberto Torres Pareja commented “We were looking for the best quality. And a comfortable and safe work environment for our operators - that’s the most important aspect. Because we really want to reduce diesel consumption and carbon emissions we have specified a special air conditioning system powered by its own battery, because the engine switches off automatically after idling for just 20 seconds.
Terberg could also interface to our dedicated telemetry unit. The units will be operating 24/7/365, so reliability and efficiency are key. And the tractors are finished in our custom colour.”
